Warning: Full spoilers from the New GIrl: Season 2 finale to follow.

2013 has been a big year for TV comedy weddings. Parks and Recreation, Happy Endings, The Office, How I Met Your Mother (kinda) — even Community with its marriage/graduation mashup — have all featured a wedding at some point or another this season. And tonight, it was New GIrl’s turn for matrimony with the doomed-from-the-start ceremony between Cece and Shivrang.

Of course, the big conflict in this week’s finale wasn’t centered on the bride and groom, but rather — who else? — Nick and Jess. Since Jess’s father Bob (Rob Reiner) had come to town, things had been rocky for our quirky couple. But Cece’s wedding was a chance for Nick to prove that he could be a decent human being (at least for a day) and not stir up any trouble.

The posters for Fast & Furious 6 declared that “all roads lead to this,” but they also lead home in this latest entry in the series (and the last from series veteran director Justin Lin — for now anyway).

Faced with the thankless task of trying to top Fast 5 (seriously, how many franchises can say their best film was the fifth one?), Furious 6 (as the movie is titled in the opening credits) aims to offer more international scenery and mind-boggling car stunts even as its story strives to bring the characters full circle while also setting up future adventures. That’s a lot for any sequel to bite off to chew, but Furious 6 largely pulls it off even if it never quite matches or surpasses the dizzying heights of Fast 5. Still, that’s not to say it isn’t a hell of a lot of fun.

In a post-apocalyptic adventure that relies a great deal on constant bits of exposition, the experience quickly grows into something much more than just your everyday shooter. The more time you spend exploring, listening, reading, and watching, the more you appreciate what 4A Games has created: an interesting story-driven single-player-only FPS. It undoubtedly rewards methodical players.

Getting through Metro: Last Light also requires a different kind of patience, the kind that lets you forgive occasionally uneven play, questionable AI, and a story that starts strong but ends flat. These issues aren’t enough to sink Last Light – it’s most certainly a good game – but 4A Games’ latest foray is certainly hindered by them.

Last week’s episode of Defiance was the first to really start living up to the potential of the concept and deliver characters that were as interesting as the world they inhabited. This week’s installment wasn’t quite as strong, but still enjoyable enough that it’s now clear Defiance cleared that initial hurdle and has settled into a comfortable groove.

So far, the series has seemed to alternate between episodes centering on Sheriff Nolan and Irisa and those focused on the Tarr and McCawley families. That trend continued this week as the episode was split more or less evenly between Nolan and Irisa. In the case of the former, the conflict carried over from “The Devil in the Dark” as Nolan and Mayor Rosewater escorted the imprisoned Rynn to Las Vegas. And for Irisa, her past came back to haunt her in a big way as she had a chance encounter with the man who tortured her as a child.

I like the first Sanctum, but I don’t love it. I appreciate its bold mixture of first-person gunplay and tower-defense strategy well enough, but after finishing it I found that I had no desire to rematch its mindless enemies, severely limited maps, and numbing repetition even with friends. I loved the idea, but not the execution. Sanctum 2 is different; this sequel takes all those ideas and runs with them in the right directions, improving in almost every conceivable way upon the original, and I find myself texting friends at ungodly hours to join me to play through a few more rounds.

As before, your task is to erect a maze of walls and turrets to keep the enemies from the your power cores for as long as possible, but the most immediately noticeable improvement is that this is a far more beautiful and varied game. Sanctum 2′s colorful but sometimes confusing graphic novel-style story panels lead us through a lush, vibrant world spread across 15 maps. Some of these maps do away with the research facilities almost entirely, and the battles unfold before refreshingly natural surroundings or rusty train yards. Each level feels markedly different, both in look and design, and in most cases they don’t overstay their welcome.

In SWTOR, credits are really crucial in all factors from the film game away from your start to finish. Credits are specifically crucial on the commencing from the game, once the hero will invariably perish on the arms of some minimal level mobs or elite boss. With every solo hero passing away arrives the penalty – the wait around time for the hero (increases from seconds to mins to 10 mins for revival at that point) to revive, along using the credit history expenses to restore broken equipment.
If you don’t have beta participation turned on in your Steam settings, go do that so you can start collecting trading cards, earning XP, and leveling up. Yup, Steam just got gamified.

The games participating in the Trading Cards beta are Don’t Starve, Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Fortress 2, Portal 2, and Half-Life 2, and up to half of the new virtual trading cards for each can be earned by playing them. The other half of each set is earned “through your collecting prowess,” which presumably means trading with Steam users who got different drops.

Once you collect a complete set, you’ll be able to craft a game badge which will appear on your profile and unlock “marketable items like emoticons, profile backgrounds, and coupons.” Badges can be leveled up by collecting the required trading cards again, and all badges—including any you already have—now give you XP which contributes to your “Steam Level.” Leveling up has its own benefits, awarding you “non-tradable items like profile showcases, extra friends list slots, and more.”

Now that playing games on Steam is a game, are you bothered that someone out there is already beating you? If so, the PC Gamer Steam group may be a good place to start looking for trades.
